Are you in there?

Yoga for Congo Women is only a little over a week away.  I couldn’t be more excited.  (I hope so much that you will come!)

I’ve definitely been preoccupied.  I have been trying really hard not to be, but I think it’s understandable.   This is so important to me!

Today, I’ve been very busy with last-minute preparations: writing emails, making phone calls, coordinating last-minute items, making sure the audio is all set to go…  My kids have been so sweet and so patient, but of course there has been a big lack of “mom” going on.  :(  I hate that, and I try so hard to not do it.  Sigh.

Tonight, as I put away preparations for YFCW and started preparations to go and do another thing, also very important to me, I could tell that my oldest daughter was struggling.  I’d had some sort of quiet moment with each of the other girls at some point in the day, but not with her.  She was getting increasingly frustrating and loud.

As I was about to get after her again, I remembered something from a talk I had listened to a few days ago. (This video contains a portion of it.)

“Mom, are you in there?”

I wasn’t.

So I stopped for a moment, and asked her what she was doing (nicely).  She was making paper airplanes.  (One of her favorite things to do.)  I asked her to teach me how to throw them as well as she does.

She lit up.

It took me 10 minutes, tops.  I threw paper airplanes with my sweet girl.  It wasn’t hard.

But it changed everything.  It meant everything.

So I’m going to try harder to be “in there,” because no matter how big my plans may be, nothing can ever be as important as they are.
