What would you do…
…if you had a sister you loved who lived far away in a place no one cared about? If when you googled and bing-ed and mapquested and everything else-d, her town didn’t even show up anywhere? If when something terribly violent and horrible happened mere kilometers from her home (and possibly at her home) no one but the doctor said a word about it?
I’ve been emotional this week.
My sisters are in that situation.
Our newest sisters from Yoga for Congo Women are living in a terribly dangerous place. This past week, as news of another mass rape on New Year’s Day was reported by Doctors without Borders, my heart sank.
The attacks took place mere kilometers from where our sisters live. And these attacks are rarely isolated or small.
I’m sick.
So what will I do?
I will keep doing everything I can. Because that could be anyone. That could be you, or me.
I hope someone would stand up for us.
Next on my agenda: Yoga for Congo Women in Salt Lake City, Feb. 26th. (I hope to see some of you there!)
And what has lifted my soul this sad week? Starting to plan YFCW Denver 2011, and what’s truly exciting…there just may be a YFCW East Coast in the works this year. I’m overjoyed!
