Yellowstone love

We have loved being so close to Yellowstone.

It’s such an unspeakably lovely, mysterious, lonely, and awe-inspiring place.

On our most recent visit, we caught a glimpse of a grizzly through the trees (not yet knowing it would be our first bear sighting of two in one week).

The bison.  I love them.  We’ve seen herds and herds of them this fall.

Hearing the elk bugling, so close up, was one of the highlights of my life.  Nature is so perfect, so beautifuly balanced.  I love being a guest in it, rather than imposing myself upon it (at least quite so much).

Yellowstone is one of my favorite places to visit. We used to go every summer until I was in junior high. The next, and mosr recent time, going was when Kenzie was 2. It was also Nellis’ first time going. It was wonderful to finally visit there again, but also exciting to see it through their eyes for their first visit. Their excitement was inspiring to see. We have talked several times about going back, especially since Kenzie doesn’t remember it. Now we have more reason to make a trip!
